Cover: Northern corn rootworm beetle (Diabrotica barberi Smith & Lawrence) foraging through silks of corn (Zea mays L.) searching for one of its favorite foods-corn pollen. Scarred silk tissue (posterior to the beetle) resulting from feeding activities of rootworm beetles may cause silks to break or reduce their ability to support proper pollen tube growth at the damaged area. See Strachan and Kaplan, "Responses of High-Oil and Hybrid Corn to Rootworm Beetles during Pollination," p. 1043-1048. Photo by Stephen Strachan.
