Radiation interception increase was expressed as [(RI in narrow rows - RI in wide rows)/RI in wide rows] x 100. Average standard errors of all experiments were 1.9 and 3.4% for x and y variables, respectively. Radiation interception was measured at flowering in maize and sunflower and at R3 in soybean. Y = 0.17 + 0.52x; r2 = 0.62; p < 0.001.
