Fig. 1. Schematic representation of the COOL database used by the DUDE information system. Each box shows the name of a table followed by the names of the data fields (columns) that are contained in that table. Lines that join tables show the relationships (linkages) between data types. The end of a line, indicated by {infty}, identifies that many records in that table can be linked to a single record in the table at the other end of the line (1).
