Use of Multiple Regression in Fertilizer Evaluation1

O. P. Engelstad2

The application of standard Multiple regression programs to fertilizer evaluation via nutrient uptake is shown to be both feasible and convenient. A common intercept and regression coefficients are calculated for any number of fertilizers being compared, along with additional data needed for statistical comparisons. Statistical tests for determining significant differences among coefficients are provided. Linear segments of yield curves can also be used.

Key Words: multiple linear regression • fertilizer evaluation • statistical tests
