Plant material from two brush species, Ceanothus crassifolius and Adenostoma fasciculatum, was analyzed for aminoid N content using three different digestion procedures. A micro-digestion procedure in a sealed tube gave higher organic nitrogen recovery than two standard Kjeldahl digestion methods. Partial recovery of nitrate N was found when standard digestion procedures were used, but no nitrate N recovery was apparent from the sealed tube method.
Key Words: standard Kjeldahl digestion nitrate N recovery sealed tube organic nitrogen recovery
