Pre-emergence, Preplanting and Postemergence Herbicides for Alfalfa and Birdsfoot Trefoil1

Elroy J. Peters2

Synopsis: Herbicides reduced yields of weeds and increased yields of alfalfa and birdsfoot trefoil during the seedling year. EPTC did not control broadleaved weeds as well as neburon or 4-(2,4-DB), but EPTC was superior to neburon for weed-grass control. General weed control was obtained with neburon and with 4-(2,4-DB) in combination with dalapon or EPTC. None of the herbicide injured legumes to any extent.
