An Evaluation of the Visual Weight Estimation Method of Determining Botanical Composition of Forage Plots

O. J. Hunt2

Synopsis: The visual weight estimation method of determining botanical composition was found to be extremely accurate. Certain biases which may be characteristic of the method were discussed. Education or orientation of estimators with known samples increased accuracy of estimates. Accuracy of estimates varied with relative composition of the samples.
