Synopsis: Within two days after irrigation of Hidalgo sandy clay loam a parabolic moisture distribution arose in the zone where seeds are normally placed. The drying rate could be expressed by a simple analytic expression. Planes of equal moisture content advanced into the soil as a linear function of time.
