Synopsis: Four-week-old alfalfa plants, inoculated or preinoculated by the "Noculized" or "Vicoated" processes, were often killed by fungi of the genus Fusarium. These organisms were seedborne and were most common on plants grown from preinoculated seed. Seedling infection was reduced by the seed protectants, captan and thiram, which did not affect nodulation.
