Extraction of Soil Moisture by Merion Bluegrass (Poa pratensis L. ‘Merion’) Turf, as Affected by Irrigation Frequency, Mowing Height, and Other Cultural Operations1

Synopsis: Height of cut, irrigation frequency, and aeration treatments all produced significant differences in water extraction. Extraction by 3- and 4-year-old sod occurred almost entirely in the top 20 inches of the soil.
