Synopsis: Forage yields of 3 rye varieties, grown singly and in mixtures, were increased by rates of N up to 240 pounds per acre. Total forage yields of rye mixtures were not greater than varieties comprising the mixture but seasonal production of the mixtures was more favorably distributed. A differential response to N fertilization was obtained among the rye varieties.
