Synopsis: Hawkeye and PI 54619-5-1 soybeans produced more dry matter in nutrient solutions at pH 7 and 8 than at pH 4. The effect was reversed with Pioneer 352 corn but this was complicated with Fe deficiency. The three plants tended to absorb less Fe as the pH was increased. The Fe was chelated with EDDHA which forms an Fe chelate extremely stable at high pH.
