A Comparison of Dehydrated Birdsfoot Trefoil and Alfalfa Meals as Constituents of a Poultry Mash1

G. M. Wood and R. T. Smith2

Synopsis: Dehydrated birdsfoot trefoil meal did not suppress the growth of chicks when included at a low level in a broiler-starter mash whereas alfalfa at the same level did. A greater proportional growth suppression was obtained at a higher level for the birdsfoot trefoil than for the alfalfa. Analytical assays indicated chemical differences between the two meals.
