Synopsis: New-seed dormancy was pronounced in Indian ricegrass. Germination increased with age of seed up to 6 years with a gradual decrease thereafter for 11 years. Wide strain and year of harvest variations were evident. Soaking l- and 2-year-old seed in water at 2° to 4° C. for 40 days greatly increased germination.
