Synopsis: Seed dormancy of green needlegrass decreased with increasing age of seed. Peak germination was reached at 7 years of age with a gradual decrease for 21 years. Stratifying seed in moist sand for 60 days at 2° to 4° C. resulted in high germination of new seed. Stratified seed was stored for one year without loss in germination.
