Synopsis: A comparison of 6 cutting schedules with 3 phosphorus levels indicated that Vernal alfalfa produced maximum dry matter when cut 3 times annually. When cut 4 times the total protein production was the same but the percent protein was higher. Phosphorus applications helped to overcome detrimental effects of severe cutting schedules.
