Genetic Variability in an Advanced Generation of a Cross of Two Open-Pollinated Varieties of Corn¹

Synopsis: The additive genetic variance for yield of grain in the F₃ generation appears to be greater than the additive genetic variance in either parental variety, and the mean performance of the F₃ is slightly greater than the average of the two varieties.
