Genetic Variability in an Advanced Generation of a Cross of Two Open-Pollinated Varieties of Corn1

Synopsis: The additive genetic variance for yield of grain in the F3 generation appears to be greater than the additive genetic variance in either parental variety, and the mean performance of the F3 is slightly greater than the average of the two varieties.
