J. V. Lagerwerff and John P. Holland2

Synopsis: In salt-affected agriculture, the tolerance of the crops for sodium depends on the level of salinity, and the tolerance for salinity on the level of sodium in the growth medium.

1 Contribution from the U. S. Salinity Laboratory, Soil and Water Conservation Division, ARS, USDA, Riverside, California, in cooperation with the 17 Western States and Hawaii.

2 Soil Scientist and Physical Science Aid, respectively. Grateful mention is made of the services rendered by K. A. Tabler and E. J. Koch, Biometricians, Biometrical Services, ARS, USDA, with regard to the statistical analysis and evaluation of the data.
