Synopsis: Foliar applications of gibberellic acid on field plantings of safflower depressed seed yields and oil content of the seed. They induced earliness, internode elongation, and sterility, accompanied by chlorosis and susceptibility to Phytophthora root rot. Seed weight and iodine number of the oil were not affected.
