Performance of Crested Wheatgrass Synthetics in Advanced Generations1

Synopsis: Synthetics of crested wheatgrass did not outyield check varieties at close row spacings. As spaced-plants, however, synthetics outyielded checks in the Syn.1 generation. Lower yields in the Syn.2 and Syn.3 generations indicated inbreeding. Outcrosses of the Syn.2 generation of synthetics showed slight hybrid vigor.
