Inheritance of Branched Raceme and Vestigial Flower in Alfalfa1

J. W. Dudley and C. P. Wilsie2

Sypnosis: F3 F4, BC S1, BC S2, and other populations which segregated for the characters branched raceme and vestigial flower were studied. Gene symbols A, Br, Ra, and Ra' were proposed for genes conditioning branched raceme. The symbols D, V. F, and F' were proposed for genes conditioning vestigial flower. A. Br. D, and V were assumed to be inherited in a tetrasomic manner with chromosome segregation. Ra and Ra' were assumed to behave as duplicate disomic genes as were F and F'
