Synopsis: Tetrasomic inheritance of a single factor difference was postulated to explain F2 and backcross ratios from a cross involving normal x exposed stigma. Forty eight Fi plants were normal. Of 17 F2 progenies, 9 segregated approximately 35:1 and 8, approximately 3:1. Respective backcross; ratios were 5:1 and 1:1. Deviations from expected ratios indicated a deficiency of recessive genotypes, due possibly to partial selection against recessive gametes.
