Tillering Studies in Oats. I: Tillering Characteristics of Oat Varieties1

Synopsis: Several spring oat varieties were found to have a high tillering capacity, while most winter varieties produced many tillers. The relative tillering capacities of the various spring varieties were similar for different planting rates and growing seasons.
