The overall curve was fitted to a quadratic-plus-plateau model: Y = a + bXcX2 when X < X0, and Y = Ymax when X ≥ X0. Hybrids Pioneer 37M81, Maizex Leafy 4, and TMF94 were in common in all years while Max 86 used in 1999 and 2000 was replaced with N.K. Enerfeast I (non-Leafy silage corn) in 2001 and 2002.
